Sadaqat Ashram

1 / 2

A place of great political significance

In the heart of Patna, by the banks of the Ganga, an unassuming yet deeply symbolic site forever entwined with Mahatma Gandhi's life awaits the intrepid traveller.

Winding through the bustling streets, you will come upon the historic gem of Sadaqat Ashram. Established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1921, the Sadaqat (truthfulness) Ashram was where many Indian freedom fighters stayed and participated in the freedom struggle. But it is primarily known for being the place where Dr Rajendra Prasad, India's first president, spent his final years after retiring in 1962.
