Amber Fort
Perched atop a rugged hill looking over the busy urban centre of Jaipur stands the impressive Amber Fortress, popularly called Amer Fortress—a grand fortress that has borne witness to the grandeur of Rajasthan's illustrious past. Established from a harmonious blend of pale yellow and pink sandstone, it exudes timeless elegance and regal splendour. Found just 11 kilometres from the centre of Jaipur, Amer Fortress was formerly a cherished abode of the rulers of Amer, but nowadays, it proudly holds the title of a UNESCO World Inheritance Site and an extremely frequented tourist site.
Boasting a deep, storied past and design splendour, the Amer Citadel was commissioned by Maharaja Man Singh I in 1592. Its massive structure divides the fortress into four main sections, each boasting its own lovely courtyard.
