The history of Chokhelao Bagh traces back to the 18th century, through the reign of Maharaja Abhay Singh of Marwar. It was commissioned by Maharani Chokha Bai, his queen, as a calm retreat where she could escape the confines of the fort-palace and immerse herself in the character of nature. The garden was meticulously planned and designed to reflect the symmetry and elegance characteristic of Mughal-inspired Rajput structures.
