Legend has it that the original name of the places of worship, Sahastrabahu, meaning ‘one with a thousand arms’, refers to Lord Vishnu. However, over time, this name morphed into the more easily pronounced ‘Sas Bahu,’ which translates to ‘mother-in-law’ and ‘daughter-in-law’ respectively.
