Shiva's samadhi on the banks of the Ganga

Ganga and Lord Shiva are inseparable, originating from Shiva's hair and flowing across, it leaves the sight and essence of Lord Shiva everywhere and one such essence is the Trayambakeshwar shrine in Rishikesh. Set literally on the banks of the Ganga, the shrine presents you a memorable view of the flowing river.

The shrine where Shiva resides additionally gets its name from Shiva as the name Trayambakeshwar translates to the house of three-eyed and no one else we know is three-eyed beyond Lord Shiva himself. It's other name, the ‘Tera Manzil Shrine’, comes from the number of floors of the shrine which are exactly 13, and "13" in Hindi is called ‘tera’.
